Question 100142: Factor 1 -a^8
Answer by checkley71(8403) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! 1-a^8 factoring this item where both terms are squares separated by a - sign is
the sum & difference of their square roots. or 1 (+/-) a^4.
(1+a^4)(1-a^4) this last term is also squares separated by a - sign.
thus the square roots are 1 (+/-) a^2.
(1+a^4)(1+a^2)(1-a^2) this last is also squares separated by a - sign.
thus the square roots are 1 (+/-) a.
(1+a^4)(1+a^2)(1+a)(1-a)
sorry I had an a instead of a 1 in the second term in the last row.
