You can put this solution on YOUR website! Call mom's age now, m.
Call the daughter's age now, d.
Then, five years ago,
m-5=7(d-5)=7d-35 or
m = 7d - 30
and five years hence,
m+5=3(d+5)=3d+15 or
m = 3d + 10
We can set them equal, since the m's are the same...so
7d - 30 = 3d + 10
4d = 40
d = 10
m = 40
