Soybean meal in 16% protein and corn meal is 9% protein. How many pounds of each should be mixed to get a 350 lb mixture that is 12% protein?
Let amount of 16% protein to mix, be S
Then amount of 9% protein to mix = 350 - S
We then get: .16S + .09(350 - S) = .12(350)
.16S + 31.5 - .09S = 42
.16S - .09S = 42 - 31.5
.07S = 10.5
S, or amount of 16% protein to mix = 10.5%2F.07, or highlight_green%28150%29 lbs
Amount of 9% protein to mix = 250 - 150, or highlight_green%28200%29 lbs
