Question 977759: A student in a mall walks 140 m [E] in 55 s to go to his favorite store. The store is not open yet, so he walks 45 m [W] in 21 s to go to another store. Calculate his average velocity.
What I dont understand is do I add the times together or subtract? Answer by Boreal(15235) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Add the distances together and divide by the sum of the times together.
distances are 185 m; time is 76s
average velocity is 2.43 m/sec. They don't ask for specific units, so I keep the same ones.
