Question 976167: Hi, if I walked uphill at 14degrees for 6 kilometres how high would I be.
Answer by Boreal(15235) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! The triangle has a hypotenuse of 6 km.
The angle of 14 degrees is the angle from the start and describes the opposite side. The sine of the angle 14 degrees= opposite over hypotenuse. That is the vertical gain you make.
sin 14=0.2419
sin14=x/hypotenuse=x/6
x=6 sin 14=1.452 km or 1452 meters.
To check, sin 30 is 1/2, so the answer has to be significantly less than 3 km.
