Question 912125: Mario bikes at a rate of 7 miles per hour. If he takes the longer route from the park entrance to the mountain, for how many complete hours will Mario bike? Answer by JulietG(1812) (Show Source):
Let's assume that the short route is 14 miles and the longer route is 21. He takes the longer route TO the mountain, and the shorter route FROM the mountain.
Add the trip there to the return trip.
21 + 14 = 35
Now divide by the mph.
35/7 = 5 hours
The trip total would be 5 hours. How long for each leg of the trip?
21 miles / 7 mph = 3 hours for the trip there
14 miles / 7 mph = 2 hours for the return trip
