The trip back took 4 hours and 6km/hr. 4 * 6 = 24km
The trip there is the same distance, 24km. But it's divided by 3 hours. 24km/3hours = 8km/hr
The question isn't very good. An aircraft carrier travels much faster than that, and at 24km out to sea, they aren't even into international waters.
