Time = Distance/Velocity
Lets take the distance as X and velocity of the car at sunny day as V.
So in sunny weather ...
2 = X/V
In bad weather...
3 = X/(V- 20)
So 1st equation can be fixed as X = 2V
And 2nd.. X = 3V - 60
Solve it.. both are equal and find V.
I want to solve.. Sorry .. Don't read this..
V = 60mph

A car travels 20 mph. slower in a bad rain storm than in sunny weather. The car travels the same distance in 2 hours in sunny weather as it does in 3 hours in rainy weather. Find the speed of the car in sunny weather. (Directions for problem: Write as an equation. Don't solve!)

Let speed in sunny weather be S
Then speed in rainy weather = S - 20
Time taken in sunny weather: 2 hours
Time taken in rainy weather: 3 hours
Distance = Speed, times time, or D = ST
Therefore, we have:
Solve for S, the speed of the car, in sunny weather
Simple enough?
