Question 851036: You plan to drive 180 miles to Boston at an average speed of 60 miles per hour.
What is the distance you travel in meters?
Answer by JulietG(1812) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! The 60mph is superfluous information. It doesn't matter how fast you travel.
Also, since Boston is in the People's Republic of Massachusetts in the US, you won't ever encounter this in real life because the US is on the Imperial system.
.
For the problem's sake, however, use the calculator here: http://www.metric-conversions.org/length/miles-to-meters.htm [change the significant figures by using the Accuracy pulldown]
.
How they get the answer is to multiply the number of miles traveled (180) by the number of meters in a mile (1609 km in a mile; 1000 meters in a kilometer). 180mi = 289681.92m
