Question 724860: The distance between cities A and B along route 80 is 42 miles, with B to the west of A. At 8:20 a.m. two trucks start driving west via route 80; one from A at 65 mi/h, and the other from B at 58 mi/h. How far away from A are the trucks when they are side by side? Answer by mananth(16946) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! They are travelling in the same direction
Truck from A speed = 65 mph
Truck from B speed = 58 mph
effective speed = 7 mph
distance between A & B is 42 miles
Catch up time = catch up distance / catch up speed
=42/7
= 6 hours
Truck from A speed =65 mph
therefore they are 65*6 = 390 miles from A
