You can put this solution on YOUR website!

Let x stand for Saturday.

Let y stand for Sunday.

Then we know:

x%2By=8 and x=y%2B1.5

Then we can just use substitution to solve this system of equations.

%28y%2B1.5%29%2By=8

2y%2B1.5=8

2y=6.5

y=3.25

And of course, if y is 3.25, then:

x=3.25%2B1.5

x=4.75

So we know that Saturday, he walked 4.75 miles,

and Sunday he walked 3.5 miles.

You could use trial and error to solve this, but this is why Algebra is so useful.

I hope this helps! Keep practicing! :)
