Two cars belonging to two towns two hundred miles apart. The brothers decide to meet for a cup of coffee. The first brother stars 9:00 a.m. driving 60 mph. The scecond brother starts at 9:00 a.m. driving 40 mph. What time will they meet?
---
1st brother DATA:
rate = 60 mph ; time = x hrs ; distance = 60x miles
----
2nd brother DATA:
rate = 40 mph ; time = x hrs ; distance = 40x miles
=====
Equation:
dist + dist = 200 miles
60x + 40x = 200
100x = 200
x = 2 hrs
--------------
They meet at 11:00 am
