You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Since 60 min = 1 hr, 15 min = 1/4 hr (divide both sides by 4)

So r = 5 and t = 1/4. Plug these values into d=rt to get

d=rt

d=(5)(1/4)

d=5/4

d=1 1/4

So you will have traveled one and a quarter miles.

Distance equals rate times time if everything is in compatible units. That is to say miles equals miles per hour times hours, or feet equals feet per second times seconds, or kilometers equals kilometers per hour times hours.

You have a time in minutes and a rate in miles per hour. You either have to convert the given number of minutes to an equivalent number of hours, then multiply and get a number of miles. Or you could convert miles per hour to miles per minute which would also give you the same answer.

Hint: There are 60 minutes in 1 hour. So 15 minutes is hour. Or 5 mph is miles per minute.

If you multiply your average speed in miles%2Fhour by the number of hours you have traveled, the result will be the number of miles your have traveled.
let the number of miles your have traveled be s, average speed v, and the time you ran t
given:
average speed is v=5+miles%2Fh
t=15min.....let convert it in hours...1min+=+0.01666666667h
t=15%280.01666666667%29h
t=0.25h
now find s
s+=+v%2At
s+=+5+miles%2Fh%2A%280.25h%29

s+=+5+miles%2Fcross%28h%29%2A%280.25cross%28h%29%29

s+=+1.25000000025miles
