Question 337333: An elderly wildebeest scents a lion and starts running at 40 MPH. .02 Hours later, the lion starts running after the wildeebest at 50 MPH. Presuming they stated at the same spot, how long will it take the lion to catch the wildeebest?
Use 5 Step Process.
I figured the lion running 50 MPH would catch the wildebeest in four seconds.
Is this correct?
Thanks!!

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
.02 hr is a little more than a minute

the wildeebest has a .8 mi headstart (.02 hr * 40 mph)

the lion closes the distance at 10 mph (50 mph - 40 mph)

so the lion runs .08 hr to catch the wildeebest (.8 mi / 10 mph)

the lion catches the wildeebest .10 hr after the wildeebest starts running (.02 hr + .08 hr)
___ .10 hr is 6 minutes
