You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Ms. Vu can run 2 5/8 miles in 1 1/4 miles hour.
At this rate, how many miles can she run in 4 2/5 hour?
:
All these values will translate to exact decimal values(a lot easier to handle)
:
Ms. Vu can run 2.625 miles in 1.25 hours.
At this rate, how many miles can she run in 4.4 hours?
:
Find her speed; speed = dist/time
s = 2.625%2F1.25
s = 2.1 mph
:
Dist = speed * time
d = 2.1 * 4.4
d = 9.24 mi or, since they like fractions so much, 924%2F100 = 96%2F25 mi
:
:
You can also do this as a ratio equation
1.25%2F4.4 = 2.625%2Fd
Cross multiply
1.25d = 4.4 * 2.625
1.25d = 11.55
d = 11.55%2F1.25
d = 9.24 mi

--- in 1 1/4 [miles] hour
I'll assume you mean 1 1/4 hours.
------------------------------------
m/h=X/h
(2 5/8)/(1 1/4)=X/(4 2/5)
(21/8)/(5/4)=X/(22/5)
21/8*4/5=X*5/22
84/40=5X/22 CROSS MULTIPLY.
5X*40=84*22
200X=1,848
X=1,848/200
X=231/25
