x=25/60
x=5/12
60*(5+5/12)=5*y
y=65 mph
or
rt=d
60*5+25=5y
r*t+d=r*t
divide by 5
60+5=y
65=y
5*65=3325
60*5+25=325
after travelling 325 miles they meet

First, how much time elapsed in order for me to go 25 miles at a rate of 60mph?
This is 25 minutes!
Rate TIMES Time = Distance,
NOW, Five hours after mother has caught up to me, I have traveled 5 hours and 25 minutes, or for the sake of computation, I have travelled 60/12+5/12 hours or 65/12 hours.
Now 60 mph TIMES 65/12hours=325 miles!!!!
But, we want to know what speed mother travelled to go 325 miles in five hours,
Rate TIMES Time = Distance
? (5)=325 miles
