Question 26330: I have been racking my brain for hours over this one, and I can't seem to find any info on the internet about it.
Train A leaves the station at 1pm heading north at 65 mph. Train B leaves the same station 1 hour later traveling south at 55 mph. How long will it take the trains to be 365 miles apart?
Please help.
Thanks!

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
TRAIN a TIMES x+1
TRAIN b TIMES x
together they = 365
65(x+1)+55(x)=365
65x+55x+65=365
120x=300
x=2.5

Hence, it will take train a 3.5h and it will take train b 2.5h to be 365 miles apart.
