based on the problem we are looking for the time of travel. we have the formula distance = rate * time. Since, rate and distance are given which are 50miles per hour and 120 miles respectively, we can now solve the time of travel... that is, time= distance/rate
t = 120 miles/50 miles per hour
t = 2.4 hours or 2 hours and 24 minutes
