Question 205654This question is from textbook algebra 1 an integrated approach
: if the vertex angle of an isosceles triangle is 40 degrees then find the measure of the other two angles. for steps 1 and 2 of the five step solution ,draw the triangle and label the angles with the appropriate measures or variables. then finish the last 3 steps as usual.
here is the five step solution
1.)use variables to represent your unknowns:
2.)draw a diagram
3.)draw a table
4.)set up and solve your equation

the table has three boxes going down and 4 going across
thank u i tried my best to figure this out but couldnt

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
the vertex angle of an isosceles triangle is the angle between the 2 equal sides.
the other 2 angles have to be equal.
the sum of the angles of a triangle is 180 degrees.
180 - 40 = 140.
140/2 = 70
each of the other angles has to be 70 degrees.
70 + 70 + 40 = 180.
-----
solving the problem the way they asked you to, this is what i get.
Triangle is ABC.
angle A is 40 degrees.
angle B and angle C are equal because this is an isosceles triangle.
sum of the angles of a triangle is 180.
angle A + angle B + angle C = 180.
since angle B = angle C you can substitute angle B for angle C so you get:
angle A + 2 times angle B = 180
since angle A is 40 degrees, you substitute in the equation to get:
40 + 2 * angle B = 180
subtract 40 from both sides of the equation to get:
2 * angle B = 140
divide both sides of the equation by 2 to getr:
angle B = 70
since angle A = angle B, then angle A equals 70 degrees also.
-----
The 3 angles of your triangle are:
angle A = 40
angle B = 70
angle C = 70
sumb of tghe angles of a triangle is 180.
40 + 70 + 70 = 180
problem is solved.

diagram of your triangle can be found at the following website.

I was not able to figure out the table.
The table has 3 boxes down and 4 across.
Best I could figure was the first row was:
A B C Total
the second row was:
40 70 70 180
i had no idea what the third row would be>

perhaps with all this information, your might be able to figure it out?
