You can put this solution on YOUR website!
time is equal in this problem
d=r*t
:
t=d/r call the rate for hummingbird r and rate of eagle is r+35
:
time t for hummming bird equals 5/r
time t for eagle equals 8.5/(r+35)
:
and since time is equal these are equal to each other:
:
5/r=8.5/(r+35)
:
cross multiply
:
8.5r=5r+175
:
3.5r=175
:
highlight%28r=50%29 rate of the hummingbird
highlight%28r%2B35=50%2B35=85%29 speed of the eagle
