            Even if you are a beginner student,  there are at least two different and simple ways to solve the problem.


1.   Using the rate

    Then the problem is solved in two steps.

    First, you find the rate; next, you find the required time.


    The rate is the distance divided by the time.   In your case, it is

        rate = 189%2F7 = 27 miles per hour.


    Then the required time is  the distance divided by the rate:

        the required time = 216%2F27 = 8 hours.    ANSWER


2.   Using proportions  (if you are familiar with it).

       189%2F7 = 216%2Fx,

       where x is the unknown time.

       From the proportion,  x = %28216%2A7%29%2F189 = 8 hours.


       You get the same answer.
