Question 111446: Hello
While traveling at a constant speed in a car, the cintrifical acceleration passengers feel while the car is turning varies inversly as the radius of the turn. if the Passengers feel an acceleration of 9 feet per second when the radus of the turn is 60 feet, find the acceleration the passengers feel when the radius of the tun is 180.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
If the centrifugal acceleration (A%5Bc%5D)varies inversely as the radius (r), you can write:
A%5Bc%5D+=+k%2Fr where k = the constant of proportionality.
We can find the value of k by substituting the given values of A%5Bc%5D+=+9 and r+=+60
9+=+k%2F60 Multiply both sides by 60.
k+=+540
Now the equation looks like this:
A%5Bc%5D+=+540%2Fr and if you substitute r = 180 for the turn radius, you get:
A%5Bc%5D+=+540%2F180
A%5Bc%5D+=+3
