Two trains leave towns 1220km apart at the same time and travel toward each other. One train travels 10km/h slower than the other. If they meet in 5 hours, what is the rate of each train?
Let speed of one train be x
other train speed = (x+10)
they are moving towards each other
Effective speed = x+x+10 -> 2x+10
d= speed 8 time
1220 = (2x+10) *5
244 = 2x+10
244 = 2x
x= 122 km/h speed of first train
add 10 to get speed of other train
