Distance + Distance = whole Distance


5*(r-10) + 5*r      = 1220


5r - 50 + 5r = 1220


10r = 1220 + 50  = 1270    ====>  r = 1270%2F10 = 127.



Answer.  127 km/h is the rate of the faster train   and  117 km/h  is the rater of the slover train.


Check.   1220%2F%28127%2B117%29 = 1220%2F244 = 5   hours.   ! Correct !
