There is the direct connection between Newton second law and the Energy conservation law.


The connection is THIS:

    1) the Newton second law IMPLIES the Energy conservation law  ("the work done = the change of the Mechanical energy"),   and

    2) the Energy conservation law IMPLIES the Newton second law.


In other words,  the Newton second law IS EQUIVALENT to the Energy conservation law for mechanical processes.
