Which direction are Richard and Pat driving? I assume they are driving to the middle...
I think you would say this
535-60x=535-47x
After 'x' hours are Richard and Pat the same distance fro 535 miles.
I haven't done these problems in a long time so don't quote me on this.

It depends on whether they leave their respective locations at the same time, or if one leaves before the other.
