You can put this solution on YOUR website! The two planes, each traveling at their own speed, have to travel a total of 200km, when one intercepts the other.
x = travel time of both aircraft
1st aircraft + 2nd aircraft = 200 km
```````````````````````````````````````````
350x + 450x = 200
800x = 200
x = 200/800
x = 1/4 hr or converted to minutes: 15 min to intercept
You can put this solution on YOUR website! You can think of this as one of the planes
not moving and the other one traveling
at the sum of their speeds
------------------------
Let = time in hours until
2nd plane intercepts 1st plane
------------------------- hr
2nd plane intercepts 1st plane
in 15 min
--------------------
check:
1st plane: km
-------------------
2nd plane:
-------------------- km
OK
