<H2>How many mail trucks will a mail truck meet on its trip</H2> <H3>Problem 1</H3>Every hour on the hour, beginning at midnight, a mail truck leaves Winnipeg for Regina, and also a mail truck leaves Regina to Winnipeg. The distance between Winnipeg and Regina is 561 km, and every truck averages 80 km/h. Find the number of mail trucks that a mail truck leaving from Winnipeg at 5 a.m. will meet on its trip to Regina. <B>Solution</B> <pre> 1. The time for each truck to cover 561 km is slightly more than {{{560/80}}} = 7 hours. I will refer to this duration as 7+ hours. 2. When the truck "T" is going to start at 5:00 am from Winnipeg, exactly 7 trucks are just on the way from Regina to Winnipeg, without counting the truck which will start at 5:00 am from Regina. At 5:00 am, these 7 trucks are at the distance 80, 160, 240, 320, 400, 480 and 560 kilometers from Regina. Our truck "T" will meet all these 7 trucks. 3. In addition to it, on the way from W to R our truck "T" will meet all the trucks that will leave Regina at 5:00 and during 7+ hours after that, i.e. at 5:00 am, 6:00 am, 7:00 am, 8:00 am, 9:00 am, 10:00 am, 11:00 am, and at the noon. There are 8 trucks in this list. 4. In all, the truck "T" will meet 7 + 8 trucks = 15 trucks. <U>Answer</U>. On the way from Winnipeg to Regina each mail truck will meet 15 other mail trucks . </pre> My other additional lessons on Travel and Distance problems in this site are - <A HREF=https://www.algebra.com/algebra/homework/word/travel/A-child-is-running-on-a-moving-sidewalk-in-an-airport.lesson>A child is running on a moving sidewalk in an airport</A> - <A HREF=https://www.algebra.com/algebra/homework/word/travel/Climbing-a-coconut-tree-up-and-down.lesson>Climbing a coconut tree up and down</A> - <A HREF=https://www.algebra.com/algebra/homework/word/travel/A-rabbit-and-a-dog.lesson>A rabbit and a dog</A> - <A HREF=https://www.algebra.com/algebra/homework/word/travel/Two-runners-run-on-a-quarter-mile-oval-track.lesson>Two runners run on a quarter-mile oval track</A> - <A HREF=https://www.algebra.com/algebra/homework/word/travel/In-a-2-mile-race-competition.lesson>In a 2-mile race competition</A> - <A HREF=https://www.algebra.com/algebra/homework/word/travel/Two-runners-on-a-circular-track.lesson>Two runners on a circular track</A> - <A HREF=https://www.algebra.com/algebra/homework/word/travel/Unusual-catching-up-problem.lesson>Unusual catching-up problem</A> - <A HREF=https://www.algebra.com/algebra/homework/word/travel/Unexpectedly-simple-solutions-to-standard-catching-up-problems-.lesson>Unexpectedly simple solutions to standard catching up problems</A> - <A HREF=https://www.algebra.com/algebra/homework/word/travel/HOW-TO-algebreze-and-to-solve-these-non-traditional-Travel-and-Distance-problems.lesson>HOW TO algebreze and to solve these non-traditional Travel and Distance problems</A> - <A HREF=https://www.algebra.com/algebra/homework/word/travel/Two-cars-and-a-train-make-a-race.lesson>Two cars and a train make a race</A> - <A HREF=https://www.algebra.com/algebra/homework/word/travel/One-very-twisted-Travel-and-Distance-problem.lesson>One very twisted Travel and Distance problem</A> - <A HREF=https://www.algebra.com/algebra/homework/word/travel/The-buses-and-a-traveler.lesson>The buses and a traveler</A> - <A HREF=https://www.algebra.com/algebra/homework/word/travel/Earthquake-waves.lesson>Earthquake waves</A> - <A HREF=https://www.algebra.com/algebra/homework/word/travel/Time-equation-HOW-TO-write-it-and-how-to-solve-it.lesson>Time equation: HOW TO use, HOW TO write and HOW TO solve it</A> - <A HREF=https://www.algebra.com/algebra/homework/word/travel/Problem-on-determining-the-maximum-flight-distance.lesson>Problem on determining the maximum flight distance using time equation</A> - <A HREF=https://www.algebra.com/algebra/homework/word/travel/One-entertainment-problem-on-Time-equation.lesson>One entertainment problem on Time equation</A> - <A HREF=https://www.algebra.com/algebra/homework/word/travel/Miles-per-gallon-effectiveness-and-moving-car.lesson>Miles per gallon effectiveness and moving car</A> - <A HREF=https://www.algebra.com/algebra/homework/word/travel/One-unusual-Upstream-and-Downstream-Travel-problem.lesson>One unusual Upstream and Downstream Travel problem</A> - <A HREF=https://www.algebra.com/algebra/homework/word/travel/How-the-state-patrol-officers-could-detect-a-driver-exceeded-the-speed-limit.lesson>How the state patrol officers on a highway could detect the driver exceeded the speed limit</A> - <A HREF=https://www.algebra.com/algebra/homework/word/travel/Two-ships-traveling-on-parallel-courses-in-a-foggy-day.lesson>Two ships traveling on parallel courses in a foggy day</A> - <A HREF=https://www.algebra.com/algebra/homework/word/travel/Moving-escalator-problems.lesson>Moving escalator problems</A> - <A HREF=https://www.algebra.com/algebra/homework/word/travel/Advanced--Travel-and-Distance-problems-for-two-bodies-traveling-toward-each-other.lesson>Advanced Travel and Distance problems for bodies traveling toward each other</A> - <A HREF=https://www.algebra.com/algebra/homework/word/travel/Olympiad-level-problems-on-Travel-and-Distance.lesson>Olympiad level problems on Travel and Distance</A> - <A HREF=https://www.algebra.com/algebra/homework/word/travel/Upper-league-Travel-and-Distance-problems.lesson>Upper league Travel and Distance problems</A> - <A HREF=https://www.algebra.com/algebra/homework/word/travel/Additional-entertainment-Travel-%26-Distance-problems.lesson#google_vignette>Additional entertainment Travel & Distance problems</A> - <A HREF=https://www.algebra.com/algebra/homework/word/travel/Additional-entertainment-Travel-%26-Distance-problems.lesson#google_vignette>Additional entertainment Travel & Distance problems</A> - <A HREF=https://www.algebra.com/algebra/homework/word/travel/OVERVIEW-of-additional-lessons-on-Travel-and-Distance.lesson>OVERVIEW of additional lessons on Travel and Distance</A> Use this file/link <A HREF=https://www.algebra.com/algebra/homework/quadratic/lessons/ALGEBRA-I-YOUR-ONLINE-TEXTBOOK.lesson>ALGEBRA-I - YOUR ONLINE TEXTBOOK</A> to navigate over all topics and lessons of the online textbook ALGEBRA-I.
