Five times the sum of a number highlight_green%28x%29 and 10 is thirty.

   x + 10 = 30,  x = 20

One side of a triangle is half the longest side highlight_green%28x%29 

The third side is 8 meters less than the longest side highlight_green%28x%29 

The perimeter is 42 meters.

 x%2F2+%2B+%28x-8m%29+%2B+x+=+42m     |multiplying thru by 2

    x + 2(x-8m) + 2x = 84m

    x + 2x -16m + 2x = 84m

            5x = 100

             x = 20m, the longest side

sides of the triangle are:  10m, 12m, 20m   (and their sum is 42m)
