Let x represent one of the numbers, the other then is (22-x)

Write as we Read

x^2 + (22-x)^2 = 244

solving for x

x^2 + 484 -44x + x^2 = 244

2x^2 -44x + 240 = 0

factoring

(2x - 20)(x -12)= 0

(2x - 20)= 0 

 x = 10 

(x -12)= 0   

 x = 12

Numbers are 10 and 12
