You can put this solution on YOUR website! The larger of two numbers is 8 more than twice the smaller. The sum of the numbers is 10 less than three times the larger. Find the numbers.
..
let the numbers be x & y. x is larger.
x=2y+8
x-2y=8........................1
...
x+y =3x-10
-2x+y=-10.....................2
multiply (1) by 2
2x-4y=16
add it to (2)
-2x+2x-4y+y=-10+16
-3y=6
/-3
y=-2
..
x-2y =8 from (1)
plug value of y
x-2*-2=8
x+4=8
x=8-4
x=4
...
-2, 4 are the numbers
