Question 338860: If the sum of n consecutive integers is 0, which of the following must be true?
1) n is an even integer
2) n is a odd integer
3) the average (arithmetic mean) of the n integers is 0
(A)I only
(B)II Only
(C)III only
(D) I and III
(E) II and III
The answer should be E, but i am not getting why the sum would be 0 if n is odd.
Thanks

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
for the sum to be zero , zero must be in the middle with the same number of integers above and below

this results in an odd number of integers ___ above + below + zero
___ above equals below so their combined number is even
___ adding one more integer (zero) makes the number of integers odd
