Question 252875: How many times does the digit 6 appear between 30 and 300 in an even number?
Answer by Edwin McCravy(20060)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
From 30 to 300, exclusive of 30 and inclusive of 300, there are
300-30+1 or 270 integers. So half or 135 of them are even.
Among the 135 units digits there are exactly as many 6's as there
are any other even digit. There are 5 even digits, so we divide
135 by 5 and get 27. So there are 27 6's among the 135 units
digits. The only 6's among the tens digits are from 60 thru 69,
160 thru 169, and 260 thru 269. That's 15 more 6's. There are
no 6's among the hundreds digits. So altogether there are 27 + 15
or 42 6's contained in even integers from 30 to 300.
