Question 133497: A farm has 60 cows, pigs, and horses. There are 4 times as many cows and pigs as horses. How many horses are there? Answer by cuteminiming(5) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! ok
this is what you do
you have 60 animals total
so you have this function
60=c+p+h
then, there are four times as many cow/pigs as there are horses
so 4h=c+p
so use that in the function.
60=4h+h
i just replaced the cows and pigs with the equal in horses
so 60=5h
divide both sides by 5
and you have 12 horses.
