Question:

Find the diagonal of a square whose area is 36

Answer:
Given square has area = 36 ubits.

So +%28side%29%5E2+=+36

==> +side+=+sqrt%2836%29

==> +side+=+6 units..
A square has four equal sides and all its angle are 90 degrees each.

So we can take two sides and one diagonal as a right angles triangle having two equal sides and the third side = 36 unit.

Here two equal sides are 6 unit each.

Now using pythagorean theorem, you can write,

+6%5E2+%2B+6%5E2++=+%28diagonal%29%5E2

==> 36+%2B+36++=+%28diagonal%29%5E2

so, +diagonal+=+sqrt%2836%2B36%29

==> +diagonal+=+sqrt%2872%29

==> +diagonal+=+8.49 approximately.

Hope ypou found it useful.
