You can put this solution on YOUR website! So 1 is an odd number. Agree? (so are 3, 5, 7, 9 and so on, numbers NOT divisible by 2 without getting a decimal or a fraction).
-----------------
The numbers that follow:
1: 2, 3
3: 4, 5
5: 6, 7
What pattern do you see? The numbers grow by one each time, 1+1 = 2, 2+1 = 3
Now let's put this in terms of x:
1x+1x = 2x
2x+1x = 3x
Since 1x is the same as simply x, we don't use the 1 in front of it right now.
Thus, we get:
x
x+x = 2
x+x+x= 3x
There are your three consecutive numbers in terms of x:
x, 2x, 3x
