One would guess you have a two-digit number.

10t%2Bu would be the number.

system%28u=5%2Bt%2C10t%2Bu=3u-2%29

Do the substitution for u, and solve.... find that highlight%28t=1%29.

the units digits of a number is five more than the tens digit.the number is equal to three times the units digit minus two.determine the number
Let the tens and units digits be T and U, respectively
Then we get: U = T + 5 ------ eq (i)
Also, 10T + U = 3U - 2_____10T - 2U = - 2 -------- eq (ii)
Substitute T + 5 for U in eq (ii) to get a value of 1 for T: the tens digit
Substitute 1 for T in either eq (i) or (ii) to get a value of 6 for U: the units digit.
