Question 448076: my brother takes twice as long as me to clean a room We clean 1 room in 60 minutes. How long does it take me to cleam a room? How long does it take my brother to clean a room?
I now know the answer is from 60/x + 60/2x = 1
But I do not know how they got this equation/formula.
I do not understand why the 60 is in the numerator and not the demonimator. My way of thinking is that each guy cleaning should have his "X" over 60 and not the other way around. And I do not see why the 60 is added to 60. It is kind of like saying it takes 2 hours to clean a room (120 Minutes).
