You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Please help me solve this question.
One canned juice drink is 25% orange juice; another is 5% orange juice. How many liters of each should be mixed together in order to get 20L that is 8% orange juice?
Let x=liters of 25% solution needed
Then 20-x=liters of 5% solution needed
Now we know that the pure orange juice that exists before the mixture takes place (0.25x+0.05(20-x)) has to equal the pure orange juice that exists after the mixture takes place (0.08*20).
Sooooo
0.25x+0.05(20-x)=0.08*20
0.25x+1-0.05x=1.6
0.20x=0.6
x=3 liters -----amount of 25% solution needed
20-x=20-3=17 liters amount of 5% solution needed
Hope this helps----ptaylor
