Question 896383: A bulk foods department purchaser wants to mix up to 20 pounds of trail mix consisting of peanuts, chocolate candies, and raisins. The mixture should contain twice as many peanuts as raisins(by weight) and the amount of raisins and chocolate candies should be equal. If the peanuts cost $2.40 per pound, chocolate candies cost $1.80 per pound, and raisins cost $3.20 per pound, how many pounds of each ingredient should be used in order to create the trail mix and how much will it cost per pound?

You can put this solution on YOUR website! p, c, r for the pounds of peanuts, chocolate, and raisins.
Setup equations.
p+c+r=20; p/r=2; c=r.
Those are not yet enough but before continuing, we can do more with these three.
p=2r and because c=r, eliminate one of these variables. Possible choice, substitute for r.
p+c+c=20;
.
PRICE ACCOUNTING:

but you do not know this until you solve for p and c; and then find r.
First solve this system:

Remember, .
BIG HINT: by substitution, 2c+2c=20, .....
Note, I did not finish this; but only pointed clear direction.
