To find the mix that tastes the best they experiment.
Mix a 2 cups concentrate 3Cups of cold water
Mix B 1 cup concentrate 4 cups cold water. Mix C 4 cups concentrate 8 cups water. Mix D 3 cups concentrate 5 cups cold water.

Only the fictional campers would know that. They would have tried tasting and /or drinking a little of some of the mixtures and made their decision.
