Question 831834: If we have 5 gallons of water and were told by a manufacturer to mix his ingredient to achieve a 15% solution. How much of the special ingredient do we need to add?
(I can't remember how to figure solutions .... I'm hoping you will also show the steps, so I can figure out for different amounts)
I know that the 5 gallons of water = 640 fluid oz
is it as simple as 640 + X = .15 Answer by TimothyLamb(4379) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! ---
x = gallons of ingredient
---
0*5 + 100x = 15(x + 5)
100x = 15x + 75
85x = 75
x = 75/85
x = 0.882352941176471 gallon
