Question 77760: How much of an alloy that is 20% copper should be mixed with 200 ounces of an alloy that is 50% copper in order to get an alloy that is 30% copper? This is how I have set up the problem . My answer is 40 ounces, but does not work out when I replace the variable. Where did I go wrong? Thanks. Answer by scott8148(6628) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! your equation is correct...you have a decimal point problem with your answer (should be 400)...hard to isolate the error without seeing calculation work, but maybe the decimal point on the x term got lost?
