Question 717541: there are 20 litres in the petrol tank of a car. If it is 1/3 full, how many more litres will it hold?
Answer by jndarrell(58) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The problem tells you that they are dividing the tank into 3 parts.
Take the 20 Litres and divide by 3.
20/3= 6.6667 (each part)
If the tank is already 1/3 full, it has 2/3 parts empty. take the 6.667*2
=13.333333repeat
The answer, depending on your instructions on rounding, is 13.3333 Litres (don't forget to report the units!!)
