You can put this solution on YOUR website!
1*.092+.02X=.064(1+X)
.092+.02X=.064+.064X
.02X-.064X=.064-.092
-.044X=-.028
X=-.028/-.044
X=.6363 LITERS OF 2% IS NEEDED
PROOF
.092+.02*.6363=.064(1.6363)
.092+.012726=.10472

A liter of cream has 9.2% butterfat. How much skim milk containing 2% butterfat should be added to the cream to obtain a maxture of 6.4% butterfat?
=================
The amount of cream is one liter; amount of butterfat in it is 0.092 liters
Let amount of skim milk added be x liters: amount of butfat is 0.02x liters
Amt of mix is x+1 liters; amt of buttefat is 0.064(x+1)=0.064x+0.064 liters
-----------------
EQUATION:
fat+fat=fat
0.092 + 0.02x = 0.064x + 0.064
0.044x=0.028
x=0.636 liters (amount of skim milk that should be added)
