Hi,
How many liters of a 17% acid solution should be mixed with 8 liters of an 11% acid solution to obtain a mixture tha is 15%?
The idea is to algebraically show the 'mixing'
with amounts of total 'solution' and 'acid' on each side of an EQ
.17x + .11*8L = .15(8L+x)
.02x = .04*8L
x = 16L of the 17% solution needs to be added
and... = 3.6L of acid involved
