Question 607580: How many gallons each of 25% and 35 % alcohol should be mixed to obtain 20 gallons of 32% alcohol?
Here's what I think it is. I need to know if I understand this.
35%= x 25% = 20-x
.25(20-x) + .35x = .32(20)
5 -.25x + .35x = 6.4
5 + .1x = 6.5
.1x = 1.4
x = 14 gallons of 35% and 6 gallons of 25% equals 20 gallons of 32%.
Am I understanding how to do this correctly?
