I would call the smaller odd integer n. The larger would be n+2.
There is no need to make it more complicated to make them look odd. If n is odd, n+2 will be odd too.
Three times the smaller would be 3n.
That plus the larger would be 3n+(n+2)=4n+2.
The equation is
4n+2=14
The solution is found subtracting 2 from both sides to get
4n=12, and then dividing by 4 both sides to get n=3.
Since 3 is odd, it is a valid solution.
So the two consecutive odd integers were 3 and 5.
