Do you mean sqrt+%285t%2B4%29+=+-2 or do you mean +sqrt+%285t%29+%2B+4+=+-2? Do you see why it is important to put parentheses in the problem to indicate exactly what you want in the radical expression?

In the first case, since you have a square root equal to a negative number, there is NO SOLUTION, since a square root cannot equal a negative number in the real number system.

In the second case, you would subtract 4 from each side of the equation, and that would give you sqrt+%285t%29+=+-6 which is also a square root equal to a negative. That also means NO SOLUTION.

I don't know how you got your answer of -8/5.
