Question 4749: One person can do a job in 2 hours, Another can do the job in 3 hours, how long will it take if they do the job together.
What is the formula to solve this type of question?
My attempts seem futile.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
First, find out how much of the job each person can do in 1 hour.
Person A can do 1/2 of the job in 1 hour.
Person B can do 1/3 of the job in 1 hour.
So, together, A and B can do 1/2 + 1/3 = 5/6 of the job in 1 hour.
Then multiply both sides by the reciprocal of 5/6 (that's 6/5) to get the whole job time.
Then A and B can do (6/5)(5/6) of the job in (6/5) of 1 hour.
6/5 of an hour is 1 hour and 12 minutes.
